Open the Buttons tab and press each button in turn: left, middle, right, and the side back/forward buttons if your mouse has them. Each press lights its zone and adds to its counter. If a button you pressed never counts, use its "Not registering?" button to flag it.
Why does my mouse scroll wheel skip or jump?
Scroll inside the Scroll tab and check the notch count against what you actually scrolled. A skip usually means the wheel encoder missed a detent, which gets worse over time and points at a wheel that needs cleaning or replacing.
Why does my cursor drift on its own?
Run the Drift tab and leave the mouse completely still for five seconds. A few pixels of movement can be a dirty sensor lens or a reflective, glassy or patterned surface; more than that on a plain surface usually means the sensor itself is failing.
Does this test check for double clicking?
Yes: every left-button press here also feeds a phantom double-click check, the same one the double-click test uses. For the full 20-click session with an interval histogram, use the double-click test.
Does this test work with a trackpad?
Yes. Turn on the Trackpad toggle to hide the middle, back and forward buttons and skip the drift check, since a trackpad has none of those. Left and right clicks and two-finger scrolling still work the same way as a physical mouse.
